In case you haven’t heard, the United States has an immigrant problem. In the past four years (strangely during the Biden administration), over 8 million Some are criminals, many are without skills, and all of them need food, clothing, shelter, telephones, legal services, bus fare, air fare, electric scooters, and charging stations. To date the United States (i.e. us) is providing these services.
The reason that most, if not all these immigrants came (and are coming) to the United States is that they believe that their children will become instant citizens when they are born in the U.S. They have this belief because the constitution (in the 14th Amendment) says “All persons born in the United States . . .are citizens of the United States”.
For some reason, these immigrants (and many liberals) ignore a part of the above declaration. Notice the three dots after “States” and before “are”? Well, some other words are inserted there. The complete sentence is, “All persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States”.
This amendment was passed after the civil war to ensure that the former slaveowners in the South did not prevent former slaves from exercising their constitutional rights, including the right to vote.
What does this sentence mean? It does not mean that everyone born in the U.S. is automatically a citizen. A perfect example of this is former U.K. prime minister Boris Johnson. He was born in New York City. And, he did not become a citizen!!! Why? He did not become a citizen because his parents were diplomate, they were no subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S.
In addition, the intent of this amendment was to protect former slave, not to make citizens of illegal immigrants.
Are the illegal immigrants flooding the U.S. “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”? Maybe not. Almost certainly, this question will be coming to a Supreme Court near you! What will they say?
Let’s grab some popcorn and watch this all play outu
